Control how you are notified

What the bell, email, WhatsApp and Android push send you, and which of them you can switch off.

Before you start

OneView can tell you about things in four places. Not all of them have a switch.

  • In the app: the bell in the top bar. Always on, no switch.
  • Email: you can turn it on or off on your account.
  • WhatsApp: you can turn it on or off on your account.
  • Push on your phone: only in the OneView Android app. There is no switch for it in OneView.

Email and WhatsApp need a credential on your account: an email address for email, a phone number for WhatsApp. You only see the switch for the ones you have.

1. Read your notifications

Select the bell (Notifications) in the top bar. Unread items are in bold with a dot. Select one to open the invoice, payment, request or lease it is about; it is marked as read. Select Mark all as read to clear them all. An empty list reads "You're all caught up."

If a notification belongs to another of your workspaces, for example your tenant view, OneView first asks "This notification is in another workspace". Select Switch and open to open it there, or Not now to leave it unread.

2. Open your account

Select your name in the top bar (or Account in the phone menu). The page is titled Account settings. Scroll to the Preferences card.

3. Turn email or WhatsApp on or off

In the card you find one row for each channel your account can use: Email notifications and WhatsApp notifications. Each has On and Off buttons. Select one. It saves at once and you see "Preferences updated."

What happens next

The change applies from the next message. What each channel carries for you:

  • In the app: events in your organization that need you. A tenant reports a maintenance request. A payment is received or awaits confirmation. A possible double debit is flagged. A tenant signs or declines a lease assigned to you. A tenant chooses how to receive a refund. An import you started finishes. Owners also see when leases are activated and when the OneView membership payment is received. You also get updates on requests you reported yourself. You are not notified of what you did yourself.
  • Email and WhatsApp: invitations to join an organization and, for Owners, notices about the organization's OneView membership and invoices. Tenants use the same two switches for their invoices, reminders and lease signing.
  • Push: the same events as the bell, as a notification on each phone where you are signed in to the Android app. Tapping it opens the item.

Common problems

I don't see a WhatsApp switch

The row only shows when your account has a phone number. Add one to your profile and the row appears. The same goes for the email row if your account has no email address.

I can't turn the last channel off

One of email or WhatsApp has to stay on, so that invitations and invoices can reach you. The Off button of the last active channel is disabled and explains why: "Keep email or WhatsApp notifications on, so invitations and invoices can reach you."

How do I turn push on or off?

Push only exists in the Android app, on the phones where you are signed in. OneView has no push switch on the account page. To stop them, change the notification settings of the OneView app in your phone's own settings. The website in a browser sends no push.

I get a bell notification for a payment but no email

That is expected. Payments, maintenance requests and lease events reach staff in the bell, and by push on Android. Email and WhatsApp are kept for invitations and the OneView notices above.

A notification says the item is no longer available

The record it was about has since been deleted, and the list shows "This item is no longer available."
