Reset your password
Get a code by email or WhatsApp and choose a new password when you've forgotten yours.
Before you start
Use this when you can't remember your password. You don't need to be signed in. We send a code to the email address or WhatsApp number you sign in with, you type it in, and you choose a new password.
- You need access to that inbox or to WhatsApp on that number, because the code goes there.
- Use the same email or number you sign in with. If you have both on your account, you choose which one receives the code.
- If you signed up with Google and never chose a password, see the "I signed up with Google" question below.
1. Open the reset page
On the login page, select Forgot your password?. The page "Forgot your password?" opens.
2. Ask for a code
Under "How do you sign in?", choose Email or WhatsApp, depending on how you sign in, then type your address or number. Select Send Reset Code. You see "A password reset code has been sent (if an account with that email or WhatsApp number exists)."
3. Enter the code
The next page is "Enter your reset code". Open your email or WhatsApp, find the code and type it in Reset Code. Select Continue.
4. Choose a new password
Type your new password in New Password, type it again in Confirm New Password, and select Reset Password. If something is wrong with the password, the page tells you what to fix.
What happens next
You are taken to the login page and see "Password has been reset." Sign in with your new password. Any device where you were signed in is signed out, so you sign in again on each of them.
Common problems
I didn't get the code
On the code page, select Resend Code. For an email, check your spam or junk folder. For a number, check that it is the right one and that it uses WhatsApp. If you typed the wrong address or number, select Start over under "Wrong email address or number?" and begin again.
It says the code is wrong or has expired
The page answers "That code is wrong or has expired. Request a new one and try again." Select Resend Code, then use the newest code you receive. An older code stops working once a new one is sent.
It says "Try again later."
You asked for several codes in a short time. Wait a while, then try again.
It says I need to ask for a code first
The message is "Ask for a reset code here first, then enter it on the next screen." It appears when you open the code page without having asked for a code on that same browser, for example after starting on your phone and finishing on your computer. Do all the steps on one device.
I signed up with Google and have no password
Sign in with Google as usual. To choose a password, open your account, select Edit profile, then Set a password. We send a code to your email and the steps are the same as above from step 3.
I know my password and want to change it
There is no password field on your profile. Sign out, then follow the steps above: asking for a code is how you choose a new password.
