Post an announcement

Write a notice for your tenants or your team, choose its audience and publish it.

Before you start

An announcement is a notice you post once for a whole group: a water cut, a new rule, a change of office hours. You write it, choose who it is for, then publish it.

  • Every member of your team can write an announcement: Owners, Administrators, Managers and Caretakers. Owners and Administrators can also edit, publish and delete announcements written by others. Managers and Caretakers can only do that with their own.
  • Choose the audience carefully. Once an announcement is published, you can't change it, unpublish it or delete it. Until then it stays a draft that only your team can see.
  • The content is plain text. Line breaks are kept, but there is no bold, no formatting and no images.
  • Announcements belong to the organization you are working in. If you work in more than one, switch to the right one first.

1. Open a new announcement

In the menu, select Announcements, then New announcement.

2. Fill in the form

  • Title: a short headline.
  • Audience: who will read it. Pick Tenants and Personnel for tenants and your team, Tenants only for tenants only, or Personnel only for your team only.
  • Content: the message itself.

Select Save. You see "Announcement successfully created!" and land on the announcement's page. It is saved as a Draft and no tenant can see it yet.

To change a draft later, select Manage on it in the list, edit the fields and select Save Changes.

3. Publish it

On the draft's page, select Publish and confirm. You go back to the list and see "Announcement published to your audience successfully!" The status changes to Published, and the announcement's page now reads "This announcement is published and read-only. Unpublishing is not supported."

What happens next

Tenants of your organization find the announcement under Announcements in their portal, and the latest ones on their dashboard. They only see published announcements marked for tenants or for everyone. OneView does not send an email, a WhatsApp message or a push notification when you publish, so tell people to look, especially for anything urgent.

Your whole team sees every announcement of the organization in the list, drafts and team-only ones included, whatever the audience. A published announcement stays in the list for good.

Common problems

I can't edit an announcement

Two reasons. It is already published, in which case it is read-only. Or it is a draft written by someone else and you are a Manager or Caretaker: only its author, an Owner or an Administrator can edit it. If the text of a published announcement is wrong, post a corrected one.

How do I take back a published announcement?

You can't. OneView does not unpublish. Post a new announcement that corrects or replaces it.

I can't delete an announcement

Only drafts can be deleted, by their author, an Owner or an Administrator. Open the draft and use Delete Announcement in the Danger Zone. Published announcements stay.

Can I add bold text, links or images?

No. The content is plain text. Write short paragraphs, leave a blank line between them, and give phone numbers and addresses in full.

A tenant says they never saw my announcement

Check three things. It may still be a draft. Its audience may be Personnel only. Or the person may not be a tenant of this organization. Remember that nobody is notified at publication: a tenant only sees it when they open Announcements or their dashboard.
